August is the perfect month, and this year did not disappoint. We began the month with a week’s vacation on Martha’s Vineyard. Hot days by the pool or beach with comfortable, breezy nights around the outdoor fire pit.
Our friends Jim and Tammy visited us for a long weekend, and we spent a day in Boston sightseeing, capping off the day in the famous North End with a delicious dinner at Lucca’s.
Then we ferried to our happy place, Martha’s Vineyard. It was their first time on the Vineyard. We had a fun-filled weekend touring the Island, including Gay Head and the beautiful red Aquinnah Cliffs.
And the highlight of the trip was clamming in Lake Tashmoo. We brought our clams home and grilled them with white wine and garlic. They were delicious!
This month’s cooking was easy and light: fresh salads, shrimp on the grill, mouth-watering Popovers, Blueberry-Nectarine pie, and Heirloom Tomato Quiche.
And don’t forget the drinks of August!
